Cacao as one of the minor commodities is barely seen as a major product within the settlement. Most of these trees are planted through backyards and used only for family consumption.<\/p>\n
Presently, farmers utilize recycled trapal (tarpaulins) as flat solar dryer beds for their harvested crops such as cacao. In the absence of linkages to the market and the prevailing high cost of transportation, farmers dispose their produce to middlemen.<\/p>\n
This proposed solar dryer will support the existing processing facility of cocoa in the area.
