Description

Pigcawayan is a 1st-class municipality in North Cotabato, Philippines. Nestled 26 km from Cotabato City, it serves as the last gateway to Cotabato Province along the Davao–Cotabato Road .

History & Identity
Established on October 20, 1953 via EO 622, carved out from Midsayap.
Its name likely stems from “Piagawaan” (meaning abandoned place) or a misheard English term tied to a pig roasting method.
Celebrates its founding every October 20.

Covers 290 km² of largely flat plains and scattered hills, from 16 m to 382 m elevation
Politically divided into 28 barangays, including Poblacion, Kimarayag, Malagakit, and others
